Let the darkness lead you to the light.

I am in the work of being consciously aware on a pretty consistent basis. So I really surprised myself the other day when I reacted with such anger to a situation. I was not my cool, calm self searching for the best way to diffuse a situation. Instead I let my emotions get the best of me and got defensive. I'm pretty sure I said some things that were not from my best self. I'm trying hard not to beat myself up about it as I replay it over and over in my head. It happened it's over, I acknowledge it, I was angry.

Emotions come and go, as do situations. But if you can take time to look at your reactions they can point you towards a part of yourself that often remains hidden and that needs some attention.

It's an opportunity to notice why the emotion was triggered and why certain things, people or situations spark a reaction in you.

By being in this level of awareness you become the observer. It is in this space that you gain perspective, remove the emotional attachment and remember "The darkness will lead you to the light" if you're willing to look.
