Find What's Working

Sometimes it seems like I’m always putting out fires- solving problems, fixing situations, accomplishing daily tasks all the while trying to make everyone happy. Sometimes all of the focus is on fixing what needs to be fixed. There's no shortage of things to want, things to improve on, things to fix. This is exhausting!
I can easily get stuck in this cycle of continuous improvement (or “fixing) which doesn’t sound bad on the surface. In fact this is a concept I learned while earning my business degree. I was taught in business, there’s always a way we can be more effective, communicate more clearly, tidy up “wasted” time during the day to become more efficient or improve a process.
What I think gets missed though, are all the things that ARE working really well. Oftentimes in the search for improvement we get stuck in this energy of lack and continue to focus on what’s missing. This only leads to a perpetual state of lack. It takes you out of what’s right in front of you, what’s working and what could use some appreciation and attention.
When the focus shifts from lack to fulfillment, more of what you want naturally begins to show up, seemingly without even trying. Essentially you unclog the flow by removing the barrier of lack that was holding you back.
Today I invite you to pay attention to what IS working. Sure, you can always improve and have goals but can you allow this improvement to start from a place of already being complete and already having exactly what you need.
